Annotation
This publication discusses an integrated approach to training future clothing designers,
expressed in the interconnected formation of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The main
focus is on the artistic training and creative activities of specialists in the industrial clothing design
sector.
Thus, “Technical Drawing”, being the basis of graphic training, will contribute to the
development of artistic and imaginative thinking, project activities, and self-expression skills

An integrated approach to training future clothing designers is expressed in the
interconnected formation of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. They are needed to solve
problems in industrial clothing design, as well as artistic training and creative activities.
A specialist in light industry must be ready not only to carry out his professional activities
(development of design documentation: technical specifications, technical proposal, preliminary
design, technical design, detailed design), but also know the entire process of creating clothing from
the perspective of many specialists in the analytical , technological and artistic levels.
In the modern world of the fashion industry, it is not enough to only have the competence to develop
clothing designs. In the labor market, a specialist with multifaceted professional qualities, both as a
constructor and as a designer, is more valued. Often small businesses cannot afford to have two
clothing production specialists on staff. (Laurence King, 2011, 223 p) Therefore, a university
graduate, a designer of light industry products, who successfully copes with the responsibilities of a
clothing designer, is the most in demand and competitive.
There are professional tasks for this area of training related to creative activity:
• construction of a technical drawing,
• creating sketches of new models,
• execution of preliminary sketches, including in color,
• artistic drawings.
Therefore, the discipline “Technical Drawing”, being the basis of graphic training, will
contribute to the development of artistic and imaginative thinking, design activities, and self-
expression skills. It will allow students to develop professional design thinking, introduce them to
the theoretical foundations and practical application of methods for depicting spatial forms on a
plane, used to construct clothing models.
A technical drawing of clothing is a projection image of a model in the frontal plane or in
isometry with an accurate representation of proportions and line configurations on the outer surface
of the designed model. It is the result of translating an artistic image into a projection image with an
accurate transfer of the configuration of the silhouette outlines of components and parts. The
technical drawing of clothing is an intermediate, information link between the artistic idea and the
constructive solution of the clothing model. It represents a realistic image of the product, which
characterizes the volume, silhouette, shape and design solution, demonstrates the relative position
of the product elements and provides identification of the means of implementing the creative
solution of the model.
In a design sketch, the image of the model is stylized and even creates a somewhat exaggerated
image that represents the designed product and figure as a style. What is important here is the
manner of wearing the suit, the pose, various accessories, the saturation of volumes, the conveyance
of the multi-layered design, the division of the form by diagonals and horizontals, etc. But having
